A wonderful Gastropub situated a stone's throw away from the very historic Rathfarnham Castle is the Yellow House.
The building itself, the yellow house dates back to the 18th century. It is believed that the first pub bearing the name "The Yellow House" was a thatch cottage standing on the present day Roman Catholic Church of Annunciation. At the time of 1798 and 1803 rebellions, it was owned by a man named Michael Eades and frequented by Arthur Devlin, brother of Anne Devlin who was imprisoned for her part in the hiding of Robert Emmet in 1803. Eades, a united Irish Man and his family were suspected of republican sympathies and the tavern was destroyed in 1803. A new yellow house was built on its present site in 1825 by Mary Murphy and opened for business in 1827.
