About The Shipwright:

Ringsend (* "That gem that sparkles on the Dodder") is one of the oldest areas of Dublin, steeped in history and maritime tradition.
The district is mentioned in many an old song and features in the works of Flann O'Brien ("At Swim-Two Birds") and James Joyce ("Dubliners", "Ulysses") .
In fact, Bloomsday, 16th of June, marks the day that James Joyce first 'walked out with' his lover Nora Barnacle . ( i.e. - first date !)
Their destination on that significant day was romantic Ringsend
To the south lies Sandymount Strand with its pleasant beach walks just 15 minutes away, while Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium and the Aviva Stadium Lansdowne Road are both less than ten minutes from The Shipwright.
Dublin's premier concert venue - The 3 Arena (formerly the Point Depot or old The O2 Arena)- is just a short walk away over the East-Link bridge. ( see Map )
The R.D.S. - showgrounds, concert venue, conference centre and exhibition hall- is within easy reach.
Also nearby is the Grand Canal Dock district, a tasteful blend of the old and new and the site of the new Bord Gáis Energy Theatre ( the Grand Canal Theatre)
From here, a short stroll over the Samuel Beckett bridge will bring you to the Dublin Convention Centre on the north side of the Liffey.
